Charts you make

The chart maker keeps what you type (a child's first name, their age group, the tasks, the reward and the theme you pick) in your browser's local storage on this device, so your chart is still there when you come back. It isn't sent to us. Printing happens in your browser too.

To remove it, clear the site data for Chart Sprout in your browser's settings.

Buying a pass

Payments are taken by Stripe on Stripe's own checkout page. We never see or store your card details. Stripe tells us the email address you entered, the amount and currency you paid, and reference numbers for the payment. We keep those so we know your pass is active for its 365 days, and so we can handle a refund.

Signing in

There's no password. The email address you paid with is how you sign in. When you ask for a sign-in link, we send it through Resend, an email delivery service, which handles your address in order to deliver it. The link works for 60 minutes, and we only send one to an address that holds a pass.

We don't add you to a mailing list or send you marketing. The only email Chart Sprout sends is the sign-in link you ask for.

Saved charts

With a pass, pressing Save stores a copy of that chart on our server alongside your email address, so you can open it on another device. You can keep up to 100. Deleting a chart from My charts removes it from our database.

Saved charts stay after a pass ends, so they come back if you renew. You can ask us to delete them at any time.

Cookies

Chart Sprout uses only the cookies it needs to work:

• sessionid remembers that this browser signed in with a pass. It lasts up to 14 days, or until you sign out.
• csrftoken protects the site's forms from being submitted by another website.
• messages carries a short notice, such as "You're signed in," to the next page, then is gone.

There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits: which pages are read, which site sent the visitor and what kind of browser they use. It sets no cookies and doesn't identify you or follow you to other sites.

Our fonts are served from our own site, so loading a page doesn't contact Google Fonts or any other font service.

Hosting and server logs

The site and its database run on Heroku, in the United States. Like any web host, Heroku records requests in server logs, including the IP address and browser that made them. We use those logs only to keep the site running and fix errors, and they are kept for a short time.

Who we share information with

Only the services that run the site, for the reasons above:

• Stripe, for payments.
• Resend, for sign-in emails.
• Heroku, for hosting and the database.
• Cloudflare, for our domain name and visit counts.

We don't sell or rent your information. We would disclose it only if the law required us to.

Children

Chart Sprout is for parents, caregivers and teachers. Kids use the charts, but the site and the pass are meant to be used by adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A chart may carry a child's first name; that stays in your browser unless an adult saves the chart with a pass.

If you think a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

How long we keep things

• Purchase records are kept as long as we need them for tax and accounting.
• Saved charts are kept until you delete them or ask us to.
• Your sign-in on a device lasts up to 14 days, or until you sign out.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about your email address, or ask us to correct or delete it. We may confirm the request by emailing that address first. If you ask us to delete a purchase record, we may still keep what tax law requires, and Stripe keeps its own records of the payment.

Security

Every page is served over HTTPS. Sign-in links are signed so they can't be forged, and they expire. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we hold small, which limits what could ever be exposed.

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. See also our terms of service.
